Allen Ruiz, Style Director, Global Artistic Team AVEDA, recently visited Juut!
Allen Ruiz, one of the most sought after educators in the industry spent an entire day sharing his knowledge and expertise with several Juut Artists.
These lucky Juut Artists had the opportunity to spend the day with Allen learning new layering techniques and styling tips.
Larissa Wong, Jen Hughes and Woody Theis were able to assist Allen during the class as the Artists began using the newly mastered cutting techniques. Allen often leads the New York Fashion Week shows that Larissa, Woody and Jen attend with Aveda.
The Juut Artists were happy to see that Allen is an inspirational educator among young and innovative hairdressers and a globally recognized artist.
Allen has worked with Aveda for more than 18 years, collaborating on the Company's global marketing campaigns, manufacturer advisory panels and trend collections. He is the owner of Jackson Ruiz SalonSpa, in his native Austin, Texas. In 2010, Allen was named North American Style Director for Aveda. Allen was named International Stylist of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Mirror Awards.
We feel so honored to have hosted Allen for the day at Juut as a part of our continued effort to provide the highest level of education possible to our Artists.

Flax seed contains a ton of fiber which is essential to maintaining healthy weight. It also contains Omega 3 and Omega 6 which can lower cholesterol levels.
A great way to incorporate flax seed into your diet is by substituting for some of the flour while baking. Or, just add a handful in with the flour in your favorite bread, cookie and muffin recipes!
It can also be added when cooking breakfast!

In the meantime, here are a few facts you didn't know about Valentine's Day, men & relationships:
1. Why did you decide to get into the beauty industry?
I decided to get into the beauty industry because it provides opportunities to express one’s creativity while making people feel great. I have always had an interest in fashion and music and I feel that great hair always plays big role in those areas.
2. What is your favorite part of the industry?
I’d have to say that my favorite part of this industry is working with amazing artists on photo sets and fashion shows. From those I am able to push the bar of creativity, get inspired and bring that excitement back to the salon to share with my guests. Then, together create a look that is both fashionably current and suitable for the individual guest.
3. How did you begin your journey with Juut Salonspa?
After moving from L.A. I visited many upscale salons in the Twin Cities. I was very impressed with the way Juut stood out. There is an extreme attention to customer care and ongoing education opportunities for Juut’s staff. When I first walked in, I felt at home.
4. Who is your style icon?
My style icon is David Bowie. He has reinvented himself countless times, from the way he looked, to his stage persona, to his music style. He had always done it well.
5. What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done as a hairstylist?
I have had the opportunity to travel globally teaching haircutting classes, working at fashion shows and photo shoots. The things I have seen and learned while traveling have been most exciting.

David Wagner, owner of Juut Salonspas, posed the question, “Why have random acts of kindness when you can have intentional acts of good will?” This question sparked the Daymaker Movement.
Over a decade ago, Wagner wrote Life as a Daymaker, and he followed it up with a book tour encouraging others to spread the daymaker message. The tour included several U.S. cities, stops at TV stations and even Good Morning America.
Since then, Wagner has continued to spread his Daymaking philosophy to strangers, friends, his employees as well as several other corporations as a guest speaker, annually addressing over 50,000 people.

Damone Roberts, known to many of Hollywood's Elite as simply the Eyebrow King, was at Juut Uptown this week! Our Estheticians and Waxing Specialists were lucky enough to spend the whole day observing and talking with Damone about his top-notch techniques and product line.
Damone got his start as a Makeup Artist where quickly became known for his special talent for eyebrows. Being an entrepreneur, he turned this skill into a valuable and successful brand. In addition to his salons, product line and education, Damone has groomed the brows of many of Hollywood’s Elite. Some of his clients include, Vanessa Williams, Robert Downey Jr., Megan Fox, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce.
Juuties were eagerly listening to the Eyebrow King's tips about brow shape vs. face shape, the best techniques to fill in a brow, brow tinting, and the best eyebrow products out there. Damone introduced his products to Juut during the class and we are excited to report we will be carrying the line at Juut next month!
